I can hear the hxammer rotate and the flint scraping on the frizzen as the sparks start the powder burning.Over time, esp. with heavy use, the brass will kind of "stretch" a bit, loosen up somewhat. That will expedite the process by about 10X.i have had to watch carefully the stain/finish i use for that reason. i have a Pedersoli that any mineral spirit, alcohol, or even some lubes will shed its stain just as yours is doing. try ballistol without water in an inconspicuous place. or wax it down with Rennaissance wax. carefully. even wax ma draw the stain.

I have a TC Hawken that i fit an L&R flintlock to, then added a GM 62 Cal smooth barrel rifled by Mr. Rayl. The open sights would not stay in focus so I removed the rear sight and installed a Skinner Sights lo pro peep in the screw hole by the hammer.Many would say the Pennsylvania is more correct due to it's length, I got the Kentucky because I always wanted one and for no other reason. Modern guns with modern loads really don't need that much constriction but with muzzleloaders we still are duplicating the old loadings.
